Description

Bougainvillea spectabilis, also known as great bougainvillea, is a species of flowering plant. It is native to Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, and Argentina s Chubut Province. These are very bushy and luscious in nature and make a great decor to adorn the front and backyard of houses. Bougainvilleas love hot, dry, sunny spaces and they seem to perform better when slightly neglected, so don t be to attentive to your plant and it should thrive. Water thoroughly and then allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out before you water again. (However, Consider the region climate)The easiest way to test the soil moisture content is to stick your finger into it( if it in a pot or container).

Planting And Care

Watering
  • Water the plant when the soil feels dry to touch  .Water thoroughly in the summer and reduce watering for the winter & rainy season
  • They do best with a high humidity level, but you  want to regularly mist your plant.
Lighting
  • Grows well and sufficiently in ample sunlight conditions
Soil and Fertilization
  •  Ensure the pot is twice the size of the plant's root ball. Mixing the soil with a slow-release fertilizer supplies         the  nutrients  plant needs to grow well
 Pruning
  • As bougainvillea generally blooms on new growth, you should cut back the branches that have finished flowering. This will force plant to produce new growth and bougainvillea to bloom. Because the new flowers develop at the new growth, the more they are pruned the more new growth will be encouraged.
